The party came together as a group of regulars at The Root Cellar. It was there that they scared off a drunk group of guards through displays of might and magic. The next day they were approached by Severn Magdus, a clerk of the mayor’s, who offered the group a job to investigate a village not too far away named Bibury. Not long after their meeting with Severn they were approached by Sgt. Caractacus of the Imperial guard who countered Severn’s offer with the same job but for less money. The group’s love of money and hatred of the Empire, lead them to take the Severn’s offer and off to Bibury they went. The trip was pleasant, they lucked out with the lack of rain and along the way met a noble, his family, and entourage. They warned about going to Bibury. In fact, as they closed in on their target they found a sign warning that Bibury had been lost. Finally, the Heroes of Cirencester entered the town of Bibury. They found a town which seemed to prosperous with healthy farms and gawking kids. They made a beeline for the local tavern and found a barkeep, Bertram Beswill, who seemed happy and friendly. He fed the group and poured them pints, finally he gave them rooms to sleep in. As they slept a rather large group of kidnappers attempted to snatch up the party. Unbeknownst to the would-be-kidnappers, not everyone in the group slept. Thus they lost their element of surprise. That said, the fight didn’t start out well for the Heroes of Cirencester. People were being grabbed by troglodytes, priestesses where sending out silence and hold spells, and lackeys where attempting to hurt a large object. But the tide of the battle finally shifted and the hero’s archer started to mow down the lackeys entangled in the druid’s spells. The cleric attempted keep the dwarf and Ifrit alive, while they variously where picked up and dropped by troglodytes. But in the end, one of the would-be assassins dropped his weapon, one was intimidated enough to be tied up, same with one of the troglodytes. While the rest of the kidnappers were left bloodied on the floor.
