Continuing the fight with the efreeti, the group deals with him summoning a fire elemental. But the tree fires out a fissure in the direction of the fire elemental which causes it to fall in. The party then focus on the efreeti, who after casting a wall of fire and nearing his own demise planar shifts away from the situation. The party then heads on down the road and about half way through the next day they end up in Pocklington.
In entering the town the guards stop them to tell them that they need to have peace knots on their weapons, bows unstrung and no magic use. Firaccas causes a bit of a stir but that is all overlooked once the guards notice Hektor. They then tell the group to go right to the Inquisition House. On the way there, everyone finds five “blasphemers” in cages in the middle of the town. Tallaluh, puts one out of his or her misery but quickly gets distracted by some bows. Jorrin heads off to find a sword and Firaccas meets an old woman. All the while Dotan, Valxif, and Crom head off with Hektor to the Inquisition House. Tallaluh buys a bow and some arrows. Jorrin gets a rapier. Firaccas is told by an old woman, “She with whom the fire burns, forgets his past and yet it burns” and she is given a partial map. Firaccas talks with the woman and goes home with her. Learning about the area but not much else about what she said or how she got the map. Meanwhile, Dotan, Valxif, and Crom talk with the Grand Inquisitor of Pocklington, who is nice enough but concerned about Crom’s knowledge of Cirencester. This then leads to the three of them being held. They attempt to escape but find that they are unable to. Valxif and Crom get upset, both having asked for things which they were the denied. Valxif having gained a new understanding of magic which he didn’t want to lose wrote the spells down with his own blood. The only hope they have is that Dotan and Bud are still able to communicate with each other with telepathy and therefore communicate with the rest of the party.
Tallaluh after getting her bow investigates the Inquisition House and learns that the three have been arrested. She also notices some unusual characters checking out the Inquisitor House. After meeting with Jorrin they decide to get a room at the Running Wolf. Firaccas leaves Jean and heads off the get some spell components. These leads to an odd conversation about a visiting professor, who Firaccas goes to meet. The Professor, Burt Hammat, tells Firaccas about a group he is looking to organize which will work with one of the universities from the capital to investigate rumors of magical items of power which they will then locate and return to the university. Firaccas is given a time and location of where to go in order to join. He then finally meets up with Tallaluh and Jorrin who are at the same tavern.
That night Jorrin slips out to talk with Dotan while Firaccas and Tallaluh investigate the home of a “shady” character she followed earlier that day. After some investigating Tallaluh breaks a window and slips into the house, which has rather unusually loud creaking floors. She plays a little cat and mouse game with who is there and finally decides to leave an arrow before returning to the inn.
The next Jorrin, Firaccas, and Tallaluh have breakfast before splitting up. Firaccas to visit with Jean, Tallaluh to watch the house, and Jorrin to watch the Inquisition House. After nothing happened Tallaluh left a note to meet her at the house and Firaccas headed back to the town center after visiting Jean. The other three where questioned by Cynewald about the connections to Cirencester and the One True God. Cynewald decided to release the three after talking with them about who they were, but he warned that they were going to be watched and that they might be called on to do some work from him in the future.
