Just outside of the barn where the party had just defeated a number of undead and killed a cult member, the group gains information about a cave just outside of town. They decide to head off in that direction but not before resting.
During the rest Firaccas decides to start shooting off fireworks, scaring the locals and then proceeds to find a nice warm stable to sleep in. The group not totally realizing that she is gone assumes the next morning that she went back to the Cross Road Inn and they head out for the cave.
Once at the cave they do some investigating. And find a room with hourglass images throughout not to mention a large hourglass in the middle of the room. An investigation of the hourglass sets off a fire trap. Further investigation of the cave leads to a room with purple light. Inside of the purple light is Dotan, shackled to the floor.
After more investigation, the group decides to stop the light and Tallulah fires an arrow at the source, this causes a number (5) of baddies to show up and only partially stops the light.
Meanwhile, Firaccas realizing that the party didn’t discuss her whereabouts decides to head for the cave. As she assume that is where they are. Of course, it is a slow and boring walk without Valxif (with an “l”) there to entertain her.
The rest of the party takes out the baddies, but not before Corowa is dropped and the others take heavy damage. After the battle, Tallulah decides to shove coins into the door to keep it shut while Crom and Valxif search the room in which the light was coming from. Putting out the light they head back down to save Dotan, but have to wait for Tallaluh to take out the coins.
Unbeknownst to them, Firaccas is already there helping Dotan out of his changes. Not sure what the noise is coming from the other side of the door they ready for a fight. Crom walking through the door first, takes a shot to the nose from Dotan, but they quickly realize who is who and look towards their next step.
At the same time a voice can be heard throughout the cave yelling about burning everything and then yelling about destroying the cave. The party jumps into action to stop them and comes across a large room with many pillars. The guy with the loud voice leaves in the armor that captured Dotan and the party gets ambushed by more baddies. The fight, which goes better than the last one (for most of them), introduces the party to Mo Wonder. When Firaccas in an act of desperation attempts to fire her Rod of Wonder a large kitten is summoned right beside her. Corowa scoops up the kitten and hold him for the rest of the fight. And later takes Mo Wonder to the Cross World Inn, where he can live out his days.
But before all of that the party leaves the cave and heads off to talk with Dotan’s mom. Once there they are informed that Corowa isn’t allowed in and with Dotan’s help she is shown a door to allow her to head off the the Cross World Inn. The rest of the party heads into town, along the way Dotan collects a halberd created with the special purpose of holding the focus which was holding him back in the cave. At his mother’s house the party is warmly welcomed and gifts are bestowed upon them. Valxif gets the land to start a store, Crom an inn and Tallaluh a tavern. Firaccas gets some money and asks for Corowa’s share, which at first Lady Shadecharm isn’t happy about. But Dotan steps in again, on Corowa’s behalf and negotiates with his mother for Corowa’s share.
After this the party heads back to the Cross Road Inn….
After helping to Dotan the party returns to The Cross World Inn for some relaxation. Gradually one by one they blink out of existence and find themselves naked on a beach with nothing they can see but a shack. After securing food and rudimentary clothing, they start to explore the area further. Coming across the horrible smell of compost and human filth they quickly discover that there is a small village just past the trees. Once they enter the town they are treated warmly to food, water, clothing, and shelter. They quickly begin to realize that the town has a rat problem
